Over 5000 attend 21st annual youth hiring fair

Thousands of young adults from all over the city made their way to The Big Four on Wednesday with hopes of getting a job.Hundreds of young adults are lined up at the Big Four for the city’s youth hiring fair. #yyc pic.twitter.com/P32qQOTuZs— Devon McKendrick (@the_dmckendrick) March 20, 2019The city hosted their hiring fair for youth aged 15-24, over 5,700 individuals attended this year, up from 1,100 last year.Eighty employers including heavy hitters like Amazon, Starbucks and Walmart packed the building along with a slew of local businesses, looking to find their next wave of talent.“They might be looking for a summer job today but could meet some contacts that could lead them to a career opportunity in the future,” said Susan Yuen with the Youth Employment Centre.Face to face interactions were repeatedly echoed as a top highlight from attendees.The Youth Hiring Centre is open year-round helping Calgary’s youth with career opportunities and guidance.For more information, please visit www.youthemploymentcentre.ca. read more
