O.C. Clubs Sponsor Fishing Day for Disabled Children and Families

first_imgThe Ocean City Marlin & Tuna Club and the Ocean City Yacht Club sponsored their 24th annual charity fishing event for children from the Philadelphia Variety Club Camp, the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the Horsham Kids Challenge Baseball League on Sunday, June 14.More than 140 children, along with their parents and brothers and sisters, enjoyed a day of fishing on the waters surrounding Ocean City.Twenty-five sports fishing boats owned by members from the two clubs arrived at the Yacht Club to pick up the families and then cruise to fishing areas in the Great Egg Harbor Bay and the ocean off Ocean City. After a morning of fishing, they returned to weigh in their fish, have their pictures taken and enjoy a picnic lunch.Fire engines, Ocean City Marine Police and other emergency vehicles from the Ocean City Fire Department were on hand during lunch to give the children a first-hand look at their equipment and to answer their questions.The event concluded around 1:30pm.This event has proven to be an annual highlight for many of the families.
