However, Mashrafe Mortaza’s men lost to India by 28 runs in their 8th match of World Cup 2019 in Birmingham to crash out of the semi-final race. However, Bangladesh’s brand of cricket in England over the last month has impressed Sachin Tendulkar. The former India captain, speaking to India Today, stressed that Bangladesh had run India close in their chase of 315 against India and that they could have gotten closer to the total had they strung a few more partnerships in the middle over.Shakib Al Hasan, who has become the first player to hit over 500 runs and pick up more than 10 wickets in a World Cup, led the chase but he fell for 66. Mohammad Saifuddin, who walked out at No. 8, came up with a valiant half-century and gave India a bit of a scare, before Jasprit Bumrah came back to clean up the tail at the death.”They [Bangladesh] have played well in this tournament. It’s not just one-off good performance. They have consistently played well. Credit to them. Even today, if those partnerships had flourished… then the game would have gotten even closer,” Sachin Tendulkar said.”We talk about Bangladesh brand of cricket… this is the best I have seen of Bangladesh,” Tendulkar added.Bangladesh opened their campaign by stunning South Africa but defeats to England and New Zealand derailed their campaign. The Asian side though stormed back into the campaign, chasing a 322-run target in just 41.3 overs.advertisementBangladesh will now play for pride when they take on Pakistan at Lord’s in London on Friday, July 5.Also Read | Rohit Sharma played chess with Bangladesh bowling attack, says Sachin TendulkarAlso Read | India vs Bangladesh: Virat Kohli in furious argument with umpires after losing reviewAlso Read | Fortune favours the brave, says Rohit Sharma after match-winning 104 vs BangladeshAlso Read | World Cup 2019: What happens to Pakistan if England beat New Zealand?last_img
